Rapid City Area Chapter Donates

Rods and Reels were purchased from the Rooster at a very generous and substantial discount, courtesy of Mike Cummings (owner). He is always extremely supportive where kids and the outdoors are concerned.

Aaron Holland of SDSU accepts the 42 new rods/reels donated by the Rapid City Chapter of SDWU. Mike Johnson (kneeling) and Nancy Smidt were on hand to make the presentation. Mike Cummings at the Rooster gave a very generous discount to SDWU to boost the project. Children on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations will have to complete projects for their local Parks and Recreation Dept. to earn the fishing poles.

Buffalo Banquet
Scholarships were awarded at South Dakota State University during The Buffalo Banquet. The banquet was presented by the Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation Club of SDSU. The event is when all scholarships for wildlife and fisheries students are presented. This was the first year SDWU has been involved, we sponsored four $500.00 scholarships. The banquet was open to the public.
Knapp Memorial

Fishing Dock Open to the Public

With the help of individuals and businesses, South Dakota Walleyes Unlimited was able to raise $8392 to cover a portion of the Allen D. Knapp Memorial fishing dock.


Allen D. Knapp Memorial Fishing Dock provides special needs access to water activities.


The fishing dock was installed at Wall Lake on June 3, 2007 in order to provide special needs individuals access to water activities.

SDWU Funds Portable Fish Aquarium

Last year SDWU heard that Game, Fish, and Parks were in need of a new portable aquarium to use in educating youth and the general public. Walleyes Unlimited stepped up to the plate and committed to providing the necessary 25% match to purchase a portable aquarium. The aquarium will also be used to display native fish at county fairs and during educational events sponsored by Game Fish and Parks.

SDWU recently donated $3,750 for a similar portable fish aquarium.
